Brian was universally liked and respected by his colleagues, clients and competitors alike. As a self-made man from a modest background, he never had the opportunity to go to University himself. He was an avid promoter of people (particularly young people) who embraced knowledge and learning. Over the years he employed many graduates, particularly from Kingston University, championing and nurturing many rising talents who are now themselves at the top of their profession and running some of the biggest marketing related companies world-wide.
Brian's Family have been searching for the most appropriate and meaningful way to honour his memory and his achievements both as a businessman and a person. They feel that nothing would have pleased him more than to help assist a determined individual to be encouraged to work hard and achieve their goals. Brian Francis was all about nurturing, encouraging and rewarding inspirational work.
This Award has been created to engage students at KBS studying for an MA in Marketing, MA Marketing with English or MA Corporate Communications. The core intent is to provide a knowledge transfer and offer a role model to consider. Brian was successful at all levels of his life because he was always passionate about what he did and professional in how he did it.
Core to this Award is the encouragement and celebration of success; how it is achieved, and how to hold onto and nurture it. Fundamental to all this is the ability to think, organise, communicate, motivate (oneself and others) and then successfully maintain the momentum of effort. The Brian Francis Memorial Award (BFMA) offers the opportunity for students to embrace Brian as a role model and apply his passion and professionalism within the Research Methods module of the MA Marketing, MA Marketing with English and MA Corporate Communications degrees.
